32 Miles from Now is the true story of one woman’s dream to paddle the “Everest” of ocean events; the treacherous Molokai Channel in Hawaii. Ann Hettinger’s journey is a story of life changing events that take this 52 year old ex-suburban housewife from Colorado to Kauai. Taken completely out of her element and becoming fully immersed in the island lifestyle, she learns honor and respect for the ocean and the amazing watermen and women that guide and teach her along the way. Join us in the celebration of human courage, commitment and determination as Ann works to overcome major adversity and is tested daily to face her fears. The human spirit is resilient but is it enough to prepare her to battle tough ocean swells, summer heat and physical exhaustion to compete in a grueling race that will test her mental limits and her mantra “the time to live is now”.

Filmmaker, Joel Guy, born and raised on Kauai, showcases the breathtaking beauty of these majestic islands and the exhilarating, adrenaline pumping sports of surfing and stand up paddling in this epic documentary. His dedication, belief and sensitivity to capture the portrayal of raw emotion and resolve is exemplary.
